Although it is possible for a Mildont® to be affixed over a recessed drain strainer using a silicone adhesive or similar fixative, the Mildont 503A is not recommended for use in this configuration because the Mildont® is normally kept in place underneath a tub-floor drain strainer, above the lip of the drain.
If your recessed drain strainer has a bolt at its center (as shown here), you can easily and inexpensively convert the recessed drain strainer to a surface-type drain strainer drain by purchasing a standard 3" drain strainer and center bolt from your local hardward store or at an online plumbing superstore.
Once converted to this type of drain strainer, you can install a Mildont® 503A. |
