The Mildont 503A is not compatible with snap-in 3-inch drain strainers or other strainers characterized by having no thru-bolts or fasteners because the snap-in tabs on the underside of this type of drain strainer conflict with the Mildont's leaves.
You may, however, be able to convert this type of drain into a Mildont® compatible drain...If you can gently pry off the drain strainer with a screwdriver, look into the open drain for a crossbar with a bolt hole (called a crosshair in the plumbing trade). The underside of a typical crossbar is shown here on a removed drain.
If there is a crossbar with a hole for a center bolt, you can purchase an inexpensive 3-inch drain strainer from your local hardward store or at an online plumbing superstore.
Once converted to this type of drain strainer, you can install a Mildont® 503A. |
